THE PORT OF PUNTA ALA
The port of Punta Ala is a tourist marina protected by a breakwater, with the harbour mouth in its northern part. It is divided into three docks, with 13 piers and 1,200 metres of wharf extension; it is fitted out with 885 berths, 70 of which are for transit, for vessels with a maximum length of 28 metres and a maximum draught of 4.5 metres.
The Punta Ala Marina has been continually awarded the Blue Flag since 1990. It is equipped with waste recycling, waste oil and batteries collection, bilge and sewage water treatment, and anti-pollution equipment.
Lights and beacons
CLEAR FLASHING BEACON:
2126 (E 1466) period 2 seconds, range 7 NM, on the breakwater elbow (blanked out towards the harbour). Green flashing beacon: 2127 (E 1466.4) period 2 seconds, range 5 NM, on the head of the breakwater.
RED FLASHING BEACON:
2126.2 (E 1466.2) period 2 seconds, range 5 NM, on the pier head downwave.
TWO VERTICAL GREEN FIXED-LIGHT BEACONS:
range 1 NM, on the inner spur of the breakwater.
Control tower
The Control Tower (red beacon) controls nautical traffic coming into and going out of the harbour, registers new vessels and assigns them a berth according to their dimensions and availability. It receives and communicates with seafarers on VHF channels 9 and 16.
Circulation of road vehicles and reception desk
The reception desk with cashier function is located at the entrance to the harbour by land (barrier), it performs the cashiering activities for the Marina’s shareholders and customers, and provides all general information concerning the harbour. Only vehicles authorised by the management on the basis of the availability of berths and/or parking places are allowed into the port area. Road traffic within the Port must exclusively use the routes and locations indicated by specific signposts and road markings.
The maximum speed of motor vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles may not exceed 20 km/h.
