On Saturday, June 14, in the picturesque setting of Piazzetta delle Bandiere, the inauguration ceremony of the new waterfront at Marina di Punta Ala took place.

It was a significant moment, attended by civil and military authorities, institutional representatives, partners, and the port community, marking the first step of a comprehensive renovation plan for the marina: an ambitious project aimed at making Marina di Punta Ala one of the most innovative, welcoming, and sustainable harbors in the Mediterranean.

The new waterfront, elegant and functional, is part of a broader infrastructure transformation. As emphasized by the President of Marina di Punta Ala S.p.A., Attorney Alessandro Fantini, “this inauguration is not a point of arrival, but of departure.” The newly visible space is, in fact, just the tip of deep and complex technical work, which involved facilities, networks, and connections, designed to improve the livability of the port and prepare it for future challenges.

During the ceremony, Regional Councillor for Economy and Tourism Leonardo Marras spoke, defining the intervention as “the first taste of an ambitious project,” and the Mayor of Castiglione della Pescaia Elena Nappi reiterated the administration’s commitment to development in balance with the environment, as evidenced by the blue and green flags that reward Punta Ala every year.
Architect Maurizio Ignesti from Hydea studio described the architectural vision, recalling the connection with the original project designed by Gardella: “We have introduced elements of innovation, while remaining faithful to the history and philosophy of this place.”

With this first milestone, a new chapter officially begins for the Marina: a project that looks to the future, but remains rooted in respect for the landscape, history, and community that lives in the port every day.
